Bartek Glowacki

Bartosz Glowacki is one of the leading lights of a new generation of accordionists. His artistic goal is to improve awareness of the accordion in classical music, as well as to develop a new repertoire for his instrument.

As well as being a soloist, Bartosz is an extremely active chamber musician. He is a founding member of The Deco Ensemble, an ensemble that has toured Europe extensively. Highlights from last season included sold-out performances in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Brighton, York, Bristol, Brussels, Bratislava, Strasbourg, Rome, and Poland, including appearances at Wigmore Hall, Colston Hall, and and Norwich Festival. Next season’s engagements include recitals at the Purcell Room, Royal Albert Hall, National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, Salle Cortot in Paris and are taking the ensemble as far as Azerbaijan. Deco Ensemble’s debut album ‘Encuentro’ was released in July 2015.
 
In 2017, Bartosz will release his debut CD “Out of the Depths” featuring contemporary music for accordion by composers such us Magnus Lindberg, Luciano Berio, Sofia Gubaidulina and Vladislav Zolotaryov as well as new commissions by promising British composers.

Rakhi Singh

Rakhi Singh was born in Wales into a musical family, picked up a violin at the age of 3, and was successful in many national and international competitions from an early age.

She was educated at Chetham’s School of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and was a Leverhulme Chamber Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music as leader of the Barbirolli Quartet. 

The Barbirolli Quartet recorded for Nimbus and were ECHO Rising stars in 2010/11 - performing in all major European concert venues. They also toured Australia and New Zealand and performed regularly around the UK, playing in a variety of inspiring performance spaces from Wigmore Hall in London to a Maori Meeting house in New Zealand.

After her time with the Barbirolli Quartet, Rakhi held the position of Assistant Leader at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for 5 years. She is currently the Music Director of Manchester Collective and the Co-Leader of Manchester Camerata; she also regularly works as Guest Leader/Co-Leader at many other ensembles, including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Nidum Ensemble and Hebrides Ensemble.

Rakhi has been involved in a number of collaborations over the years; as a solo violinist with the National Dance Company of Wales in a tour of Wales performing the D minor Partita by Bach with two dancers, and more recently, in An Anatomie in Four Quarters with the Clod Ensemble.

Throughout 2016/2017 she will be performing worldwide with the internationally acclaimed Scottish Ensemble in their collaboration of Goldberg Variations with Swedish company Andersson Dance, and she can be seen with chamber music partners Llyr Williams, Adrian Brendel, Thomas Carroll, Bartosz Glowacki, Edinburgh Quartet, Alisdair Beatson, Reinoud Ford, Piatti Quartet and Nidum Ensemble.

Excitingly she is also working with electronic musician/producer Vessel creating an electro-acoustic work based around Janacek's String Quartet No. 2, due to be ready in Summer 2017.
