Trustees

Voluntary position
Three-year term period
Remote / UK

At Manchester Collective we create intimate and intense human experiences. We passionately believe in the power of music to make an impact, to move and excite us. We seek to create innovative musical work which reaches a diverse audience, from classical music afficionados to experimental music lovers.

Our Board of Trustees is central to supporting this vision. This governing body is made up of working and retired professionals with a range of expertise, as well as musicians. They legally oversee our financial affairs, advise on strategy, assist with fundraising opportunities, help guide our management team and offer us a different point of view.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking to appoint up to four new Trustees. We’re after people who are enthusiastic about arts and culture, across artforms and musical genres. No matter your field, you’ll have had significant professional experience with clear evidence of impact.

The bigger the range of voices on our Board, the better. We’re therefore committed to making our Board more diverse. We welcome applications regardless of background – and you don’t need to have worked in the arts and heritage sector!

What you’ll do

As a Trustee, you’ll attend four Board meetings a year – three in Manchester and one in London. You’ll join one or more subcommittees, which centre on a specific aspect of our work: Environmental Sustainability, Governance & Finance and Artistic Planning, and Inclusivity & Relevance. There is also an annual Board away day.

How to apply

There are two windows for submitting your application:

  • Autumn 2024: 26 September—31 October

  • Spring 2025: 1 March—31 April

Outside of those dates, we still welcome expressions of interest.
